Google at the 2006 American Library Association Conference.
"The two can be great partners."
Google is definitely outreaching to the library community. They have a blog dedicated to this effort at the following URL:

I'm impressed with Google's outreach efforts to librarians. They have librarians from the Library of Congress at their ALA booth and they also have one from the UCLA Medical. Google is an influential search engine and the video showed that college, public and academic librarians use it. Though the Google Cocktail Party does kind of remind me of the NYLA wine tasting event. The video does a good job of showing how google and librarians can work together!

This is great, obviously libraries shouldn't try to compete with Google, studies show that since the arrival of the internet and search engines library patronage has increased. Cooperation with companies like Google is definitely important to ensure the growth and development of libraries in the midst of rapidly changing technology.
